The Inspirations Behind our Most Loved Products

Our products have always been inspired about the world around us, including the people we meet. These pieces hold a special place in our hearts for the people that inspired them! So, take a scroll down memory lane with us and learn some of the stories behind our most loved pieces.
The Coralie is a beautiful, vintage-inspired chandelier that's perfect for a girl's room, baby nursery, or a shabby chic vibe. It is favorite among so many! Named in honor of a delightful French woman who taught in the school that Billy and Jane's children attended.
The Yola Lantern is a whimsical light that brightens entryways or dining nooks, named for a sweet, lifelong workshop helper. Yola worked for Guadalupe, the artisan and life long friend who helped bring the Stray Dog to life, for years before Billy and Jane purchased the shop in 2008. Yola is now retired and happens to be a talented seamstress!
The Lala Pendant is a modern light with funky flair! It derives its name from the wonderful wife of Mariano, who is Billy and Jane's business partner and workshop manager in San Miguel. She took care of their children when they were small and is genuinely their second mother, even the godmother of their daughter Franny.
The Paulina is a beautiful statement light decorated in otomi embroidery, a floral and animal Mexican embroidery pattern. Named in honor of Lala and Mariano's youngest daughter and Jane and Billy's goddaughter. She shares Franny's birthday and turned 14 this year!
The Mariana is a floral floor lamp that is a centerpiece light. Named for Lala and Mariano's 16 year old daughter. Mariana spent the last school year living with Billy and Jane, enjoying life in Chattanooga!
The Pato Pendant, like our Paulina Pendant, is decorated in the otomi embroidery style. It's named for the younger son of Guadalupe, Stray Dog's old business partner and dear friend. Billy and Jane have known him since he was 4. Now, Pato is a talented chef with a beautiful family!
The Nacho Pendant is a vibrant hanging dome light named for Stray Dog's tin maestro who creates most of our tole and tin samples. He is one of the few artisans that actually builds product in the workshop!
The Victoria Robbins Lamp is a botanical-inspired table lamp that makes an artistic accent piece. Victoria Robbins, a hysterical, charming, smart teacher, that was the headmaster and founder of the happy, "hippie" multinational school that Jane and Billy's children attended when they would take their sabbatical years.
The Efrain Sconce, a botanical sconce light that accents any space, is named for the husband and business partner of our most talented papier mache artisan, Amalia. They are independent contractors and produce all of our most intricate and detailed papier mache work.
