Eclectic Maximalism is Peak Dopamine Decorating | Meet Sarisa the Creator behind IndigoLeopardHome

Posted by Alicia King on

Dopamine decorating is the idea of decorating your space in a way that brings you joy. It's personal, unique, and full of life. When we thought of the perfect display of dopamine decorating, we thought of Sarisa Munoz. She has always loved interiors, but her “career” really started when she launched her @indigoleopardhome account on Instagram in 2018. According to her, "It’s really snowballed from there. I’m so grateful for all the opportunities it’s led me to so far!!" We chat with Sarisa about her inspiration, process and approach to decorating for joy instead of trends.

The Approach of No Approach

My style is eclectic maximalism. My approach is no approach, really. I say if you like it-buy it. That has worked for me and that’s how I’ve created the look I’ve created today in my home! I usually put together a mood board to get an idea of how the elements will flow together, but that’s not necessarily a finalized say. I just let the creativity start flowing and then I’ll just end up with several different versions…it’s somewhat trial and error for me.

I think inspiration is gathered from everywhere in my life. The world I live in and see whether it’s on TV, nature, traveling, or even just scrolling through instagram…inspiration is everywhere!

A New Favorite Entryway and New Favorite Stray Dog Pieces

I love color and pattern! Isn't obvious? Though, I do have some painted rooms, but honestly I prefer crisp white walls so I can add ALL the colors and patterns with decor and art. I just love how that translates in a space. I just revamped a boring hallway into a hall of mirrors of sorts. It now features all kinds of different mirrors of shapes and colors. Of course my favorite additions are the beautiful pieces by Stray Dog Designs - The Vanessa Mirror, Funky Faux Bois Mirror, and the Isabelle Ceiling Light!

I actually have a few Stray Dog pieces floating around my home! I love them all, but my favorite is definitely my new Funky Faux Bois Mirror that I just added to my hallway!

Trends are Out and Vibes are In

I don’t like to follow trends necessarily, because I always say if you love it…it’ll never go out of style!  However, I’m over (and will always be over) the beige and griege farmhouse look. Period.

Looking Ahead

I’m always looking forward to the future and what will come around the bend next! It’s always excited getting new brand deals and being asked to participate in interviews like this! As far as upcoming projects, I’ll be getting some new lighting in my master bathroom….which will feature some of Stray Dog's new line (soon to be released)! Super excited to showcase these very soon!
